Penang Then & Now: A Century of Change in Pictures

Have you ever wondered what Penang looked like a century ago?

This book will take you on a pictorial time-travel of 115 sites in George Town and beyond. Each site is represented by two images. The first is an image from around 100 years ago - many not seen before - the second a photograph of the same site today, taken in a position as close as possible to the original.

Some sites are easily recognisable - others you will find it hard to believe are the same location!

This book follows an exhibition held by the authors in 2016. The guestbook overflowed with comments such as 'surreal', 'nostalgic', 'enlightening', 'heart-breaking', 'mesmerizing', 'a revelation' and 'so many beautiful buildings gone'.
