On September 7, 2024, we were thrilled to host our very first "Meet our Makers" workshop at Kommune Lebuh Victoria. Titled "Plant-powered Saturdate," this intimate gathering featured none other than our in-house culinary head, Chef Allen Teoh, who shared his expertise and passion for plant-based cuisine.

The workshop kicked off at 2pm, welcoming a small, enthusiastic group of guests. Upon arrival, they were treated to refreshing spritzers, setting the tone for a casual yet insightful afternoon. Chef Allen led a lively conversation, sharing his philosophy behind plant-based cooking and why Kommune Lebuh Victoria proudly serves sustainable, wholesome dishes. The guests eagerly exchanged ideas and perspectives on the growing movement towards plant-powered dining.

The centerpiece of the event was a live cooking demonstration where Chef Allen prepared three of our signature dishes: Cucur Labu, Tomato Chutney, and Terung Bakar. As the enticing aromas filled the room, guests learned about the unique ingredients and techniques used in each dish. More than just a cooking demo, it was a hands-on learning experience that highlighted the creativity and care behind plant-based cooking.

Of course, the best part was tasting the freshly prepared dishes! From the crispy, sweet Cucur Labu to the smoky, grilled Terung Bakar, each bite was a testament to the flavours and possibilities of plant-based cuisine. The workshop wrapped up with smiles, full hearts, and inspired palates. Our guests left with a deeper understanding of why we embrace plant-based culinary at Kommune, as well as new ideas for their own cooking adventures.
